This ongoing multinational study explores how fiber intake and gut microbiota influence obesity risk and resting metabolic rate (RMR) across five African-origin populations. By leveraging over a decade of data, the project investigates how dietary changes affect gut microbial diversity, SCFA production, and energy metabolism. An interventional arm will test if fiber supplementation can reverse adverse metabolic effects, offering new insights into obesity prevention.
